.INFO is the hot new extension, with over 1.1 million registrations so far. Although it's launch in September
2001 was overshadowed by the Sept 11 2001 attack coverage, .INFO's growth has outpaced all TLDs except for .com.
.INFO "works" in many languages; It's an acronym for "information" in English, French, Spanish, German, and other
languages. Most consumers use the internet to find INFORMATION before they buy a product or service. Web users
will be drawn to a .INFO site when looking for INFORMATION, rather than going directly to a point of purchase
site. By owning and operating a .INFO site, your company has a unique opportunity to be the first to provide
the shopper with informative articles... which happen to contain links to your commercial web site.
For example, John's Extermination Service might have a web site called "JohnsExterminations.com". His web site
at that address will have his location, specialties, and company history. But a consumer needing his service might
first be drawn to a web site named "termites.info" or "ants.info", especially when those sites are listed first
in the search engines. John will likely more than triple his sales leads by setting up all three web sites, each
of which will act as a 'billboard' on the search engines.
Google's latest ranking formula is rumored to value .INFO names above all other extension, since they are more
likely to provide valuable INFORMATION to visitors, rather than just the commercial pitch.
